>>one thing is certain, the competition in the industry is heating up<<

As far as Intel is concerned, competition hasn't been this weak since the begining of the PC revolution. A few years ago it looked like AMD might provide serious competition. Last time I checked, AMD was barely hanging on. In the past year it looked like Cyrix might provide some serious competition. Last time I looked Cyrix was having a disasterous year...more disasterous than even the Cyrix critics would have imagined. This is not such a good sign for the industry in general and a mixed sign for Intel. While all but destroying their competition completely may seem great, competition is healthy. First and most important, it keeps Uncle Sam off of their backs. Second, competition is a major driving force behind innovation. The technology industry is and always will be very competitive because it presents huge $$$ oportunities. Intel's competition, however, is not currently heating up, it's treading water and trying to stay afloat. Meanwhile, Intel threatens to expand their dominance by expanding and competing at the high end. Look out SUNW.
