Count the cars at Il Posto, or Franklin Racquet or downtown Birmingham on any weekend. You will see a lot of BMWs and Mercedes, etc, etc. We always had a Lincoln for "state" occasions when I lived there, as did everyone else. A friend who has always kept a Cadillac around finally abandoned the pretense about 5 years ago.

Our BMW's did just fine in the winter. My MBG was another story. Crappy Smith electricals, etc. Monthly Guaranteed Breakdown. I've never owned a Mercedes but it seems it is more "Detroit" now than the others.

Land Rover/ Jaguar are a mess. Have a friend who has owned a fun Range for two months now. 7 weeks in the shop. Two replacements of the headliners later, she had about a gallon of water pour down on her when she came to a stop during a driving rain. Ford would do well to dump this marque. MP
