But the topic was how involved the USA should be in the ME, not what you think is a legitimate government.

Elroy, we should be involved in promoting democratic reforms EVERYWHERE, not just in the M-E.

But I do not believe we should wage war SPECIFICALLY for the promotion of democracy (to tear down any current totalitarian power structure already in place).

But when, under international law such as the failure of Saddam to abide by his cease-fire obligations, then once we overthrow him, we have an obligation to do our upmost to replace that government with one that is democratic, free and fair, and holds the values of individual rights (both majority and minority) sacred.
