You are really close, the first shot is a few miles east of The Dalles, maybe 6-7 miles west of Wasco and inland a few miles.
The second shot is from the Washington side, just east of White Salmon, which is across from Hood River on the Oregon side. I think the whole Gorge area is truly magical. It is a stunning landscape to be in, I am drawn back often.....last night, looking north towards Condon, the wind farm was working overtime, it's like a working sculpture park.
This morning, I kept running up on huge flocks of wild turkeys trotting down the road...they are hilarious, they can't make a group decision on which way to go, so they are constantly bouncing off each other as they run along.....
