"Black" Humor: Zimbabwe Playing Cards: Queuewait

>>Along with the booklet called "A Guide to Dangerous Snakes in Zimbabwe", I also received a lovely pack of "classic playing cards" - but inside, the cards all had images which pertain to modern Zimbabwe.

Like the booklet, I don't know who printed the cards. There are absolutely no markings to indicate who is behind them. I will try to see if it is possible to source them. They might be nice to sell.

No doubt Mugabe would like to chuck people in jail for the booklet and the playing cards. You think its a joke? Its not. There are laws against this type of thing in Zimbabwe. Any kind of mockery of the President can get you straight into jail.

I also received a CD containing songs sung by black Zimbabweans. Only a few of the songs are in english. As with everything else, there is no indication who sang the songs, who produced the CD, etc. The CD is merely called "Limpopo Crossing". The Limpopo is the river the black Zimbabweans flee over to get into S.Africa.

The songs mention our pro-Mugabe President, President Mbeki. They also mention that even though black Zimbabweans flee to Johannesburg that they really have no friends here and they long to return home.

I'm not sure if I should make the songs freely available since they have no copyright, etc. It depends if people are interested in the songs.

The one card I thought was very cool was "Queuewait" (wordplay on Kuwait). Life in Zimbabwe is pretty much like that... people wait in queues all the time.

I love the card which shows the implosion of the economy. The economy is still just going down and down. I think, eventually, there must come a time when people can't survive anymore in Zimbabwe and sheer desperation will set in and the killing will then begin. I hope there is a Civil war there. It is the only hope to get that scumbag out.

I scanned 11 of the playing cards in the pack. They tell the sad story of Zimbabwe. Please pass it around to friends:-<<
