Peter, The family core is rapidly being torn to smithereens. There are too many one parent families, which at best, causes the children to grow up with only one view of life. They have problems because they are not well rounded, and knowledgable of how a functional, two parent, family is the balanced environment that they need to grow up with a clear mind.

The government makes it too easy for one parent families to exist. There was a time when an unmarried woman would receive wellfare for each child born out of wedlock. At that time, most of the unwed mothers were black, and at times, their own parents would find a stud to make their daughter pregnant for the sole reason of obtaining that wellfare. The child did not benefit from the government handout.

Parents of all ethnic backgrounds today, do not pay attention to their children and guide them along the path to adulthood. How are they suppose to be able to cope with life when they have not had training?

Public schools of today are not the answer. The teachers are teaching their own philosophies in the class room, more than the subjects that are sorely needed by the students. I blame the NEA for that, and those teachers that are members. They care more about their benefits than the needs of the children. That is why "home schooled" children do better on any kind of test. They not only get more unbiased teaching, but usually come from an complete family.
