Depending on how do you define middle class. I would consider a lot of Whole Food shoppers are middle class, even some poor class (like college students). I live nearby a Whole Food Market, saw plenty of college students go there shopping

For poor people, high price definitely is a major issue. Even for regular food, high fat and high salt are usually cheaper, and they are consumed almost entirely by the less advantaged. That is the major reason why poor people are heavier and have high percentage of high blood pressure and heart disease.
