Now I'm waiting to see if Sarah Palin will make a copycat oil drilling commercial, like Arliss Sturgulewski did when Tony Knowles trotted out his oil roughneck footage in the 1990 governor's race. ;) Haw! Maybe she'll go bigtime instead and drive a tank (like what's-his-name from Massachussets). It is probably worth noting that very few voters understand enough about these oil and gas issues to know how to vote on them. They have to be reduced to something simple. "Build an All-Alaska gas line" is something voters can comprehend. The issue as it was understood before the primary was "Murkowski is desperate for a gas line to salvage his reelection bid, so he's agreed to a contract that will give away the farm". Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but that was the perception. Anyway, Sarah has a lot bigger problem to deal with first, and that's consolidating her right flank. If conservatives support her, she'll easily beat Knowles. If they don't, who knows?
