Where and when was this?

We were in Turkey last October. Had no trouble. I do recommend staying out of eastern Turkey- -anything east of Ankara, including Ankara. Otherwise, the people were very helpful and a real delight. The archaeology there is fantastic!

BUT in December there were riots in Istanbul over the Danish Mohammed cartoons- -an incident that might cause some squawking in the west, but no violence. The same would be true in Japan or Asia.
