Question though.. Do you think the Iranian delay in responding to the IAEA and UN until August 22nd was more than just what Bernard Lewis had stated (a potential attack being planned)??

I kind of wonder if Ahmadinejad was actually under the impression that the Mahdi was going to reappear this year, and when that date came and gone, he was forced to back down in humiliation?

Haven't seen anything in the press about whether he actually was anticipating the Mahdi to return this year or not, but he's certainly made it clear that he expects his return soon.

This, combined with Nasrallah's apology to the Lebanese, seems to have created a scenario where Ahmadinejad and the "Supreme Guide" has suffered a tremendous loss of face.

What's your view?
