I wonder how the nations of the world consider the effectiveness of Bush's military threat.

The military was quite effective at carrying out the threat against Saddam's regime. The fact that we haven't been as effective at cleaning up the mess afterwords, doesn't mean we can't also destroy other regimes. The mullahs don't want to be an insurgency. They want to keep their comfy ruling position.

I'm not suggesting that we invade Iran, or even that the situation in Iraq has made any threat to do so somewhat less credible, but it hasn't removed the threat. What would remove the threat would be Iran's abandoning or at least seriously halting its nuclear weapons program.
