A get out of jail "free" card is not an unreasonable
interpretation.

I'm sure they could find something to charge him with
if they tried hard enough. Maybe obstruction of justice.

I'm sure there is a SOL on the pornography charges, but not
doing criminal law, don't know what it is without research.

Good question about tolling when a person is out of the jurisdiction. There is a statute that tolls limitations for
civil cases while the defendant is absent from the jurisdiction. I don't know about criminal cases offhand.
