In one of my extrememly rare forays into criminal law
I defended the son of a colleague against a charge of public drunkenness. His true "crime" was a failure of the attitude test when confronted by the local police. This lead to not only arrest, but ultimately to an assault on a police officer charge, which became the really thorny issue. (The assault was allegedly effected via spittle).

People don't realize how the charges can pile up, even if they're sober!
