It's hard to imagine the average working family spending that amount of money in Wal-Mart, let alone saving that much in the process.

You probably didn't think of groceries. They project savings of 15% to 20% over normal stores. $2300 is 20% of $12,500. The "average working family" is usually defined as three times the poverty line, which is $19,000. That means they make $58,000. Figuring groceries at for them at least 25% for a family of four gives us $14,500 alone.
