Cdex sells ValiMed system to Texas provider Washington Business Journal - August 16, 2006by Neil AdlerStaff Reporter Health care technology firm Cdex has sold three of its medication verification systems to Texas Children's Hospital.
The Rockville-based company didn't disclose how much its ValiMed system costs.
The hospital, located within the Texas Medical Center in Houston, will use ValiMed to perform end-product testing of compounded intravenous medications in its pharmacy departments, and validation of returned narcotics in its operating rooms and nursing stations.
ValiMed uses patent-pending technology to validate compounded doses of high-risk drugs prior to dispensing them to the patient-care area.
Cdex (OTCBB: CEXI) developed ValiMed, and the product is distributed by Englewood, Colo.-based Baxa.
"Since the majority of our medications are compounded, the ValiMed technology will provide an additional layer of safety and enable us to verify accuracy of multiple doses in a more timely fashion," says Karen Gurwitch, the hospital's director of pharmacy.
Cdex is developing and marketing products using chemical-detection and validation technologies, with a focus on quality assurance and identification of illegal substances. |
