Your post reminds me of what Lawrence of Arabia wrote in his
"Seven Pillars of Wisdom". Also, in the movie, "Lawrence of Arabia" you can see how disunited the various Arab tribes were and how they refused the division of labour amongst them for a common cause and unity. It was this mutual distrust and hatred that the British colonial masters exploited (play one group against another) according to their well-tried "Divide and Rule" formula.

Lawrence in his day often drew the attention of his government to the plight of the Arabs. But he was ignored again and again because the British government had more important long range plans. Was it really farsightedness or foresight that they had in Lawrence's time or what? Look at the mess today!
