Interesting day for a Hurrricane Katrina anniversary.

A few minutes ago, the Prez's helicopter flew by at the same time that the sad part of a jazz funeral for Katrina was on its way to the Superdome. The usual Mardi Gras Indians, brass bands, etc., are part of it along with fire engines, boats [I guess I can understand that], police, ambulances, all kinds of first responders. I expect to see the cheerful part of the funeral shortly.

Perhaps W will second line.

What a city.

I recall hearing the noise of an impromptu second line parade which snaked through the Garden District when I lived there. As there was no particular reason for the parade, not that a reason is ever necessary around here, I went out to take a look. To my surprise, Mick Jagger was leading the parade, going nuts, having a great time. One of the few white faces in the crowd.
