The Morman Church evidently views the Fundamentalist LDS with total disdain

Yes, they are an outlaw group. The polygamists get their money from pooled assets and tax fraud. If you have three or four working adults, including professionals, in a single home pooling costs and resources, you get a big surplus real fast. A trick here is to leave a part of their huge 5000 sqft house unfinished, so they don't pay property taxes - the house is still in construction.

I don't know how the Jeffs do it, but the Kingston Family of polygamists use a "co-op model". The families turn all their earnings over to the co-op, and do jobs for the co-op in exchange for credits. The co-op owns all the real estate. When the family wants to buy something, the co-op buys it and debits the family's "book".

The co-op in the meantime has a huge pool of assets.
