Not so fast there Mq. I decided to check what you were told about chewing gum. It seems that ElM is correct and chewing gum of therapeutic value is allowed in Singapore as per USA free trade agreement, but other chewing gum is not. I am not sure what comprises "therapeutic chewing gum" as I have considered all chewing gum therapeutic for 4 decades. en.wikipedia.org

It's ridiculous to ban chewing gum, just fine people who are damaging with it $1,000 plus the cost of any harm they do, [cost of cleaning, cost of blocking a coin phone, cost of stopping the MRT, cost of crashing a 747]. If they can't cover the cost, execute them. Then they won't damage things.
