well, i think Michigan is a little bit of a special case. there aren't too many other areas of the country where blue collar workers were pulling down 200K a year as they were at Ford's Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne in the late 1990s.

Although their income was substantial, I don't recall those workers making that much money.

Regardless, there are going to be tens of thousands of builders, contractors, RE agents, and title insurance clerks across the country who were making decent money (if not big bucks) who are going to be paycheckless. Add in all of the businesses who served these people which are going to be struggling and it's a recipe for a Michigan-like experience.
