A direct quote from Fiasco hardly means its not silly. If it really was the worst organized campaign in the history of mankind things would have gone far worse. I believe that its quite possible that it was a quote from a military historian, I don't doubt that. But either it was just a flippant comment, or it was an exaggeration to highlight his opinion that the campaign really has been poorly planned, or something along those lines. If its the historian actually made such comment and supports it as his considered opinion, than he's lost all sense of perspective.
