Israel continued to give palestine land back, right up until Hamas Kidnapped an israeli soldier, which is still an act of war. Israel has the right since it was legally invaded to pursue whatever course of action it needs to get that soldier returned. The war against hamas would stop if they returned the soldier, but they haven't. So hamas can end this at any time, by returning the kidnapped israeli.
