it's relatively private unless you're using your employer's computer, for instance. But when criminal activities are afoot email as well as hard copy mail is just as vulnerable to seizure or inspection as possible evidence of criminal enterprise, as well as wiretapping, so as to prove the suspected criminal activity. I imagine a court order is required but maybe not. Anyway, if you're on the up-and-up there's nothing to worry about, right?
