Its still possible now if arguably somewhat more difficult. I personally know people who have worked there way up post 1990. Middle management has gotten thinner, it hasn't disappeared.

Some of them, like starting as a driver at Domino's and working your way up to manager can still leave you in the lowest quintile.

I used to work for Dominos. A full time driver could escape at least the lowest quintile as a driver. A store manager definitely would not be in the lowest quitile.
