I don't watch Hannity and Colmes very often... Can't stand Hannity, and Colmes is just his lap dog.. But sometimes they have some interesting guests on. I just don't need to hear unfettered political bias...

Not sure if I can agree with Emerson, but I didn't watch the show. Lahoud is a Maronite Christian, as all Lebanese Presidents must be. Siniora is a Sunni muslim, also directed by their constitution. Lahoud, however, is very close to Syria and I would agree that until he asserts some form of separation from Damascus, Lebanon is never going to free itself of its Syrian influence and achieve true independence.

So obviously they were under a lot of pressure. But I can't excuse their verbal support of Nasrallah or Hizbullah usurptation of the country's sovereignty. They could rant and rave against Israel all they want, but voicing support of Hizbullah was ridiculous.

But given that Nasrallah has suddenly apologized, and his organization is having to fork out $150 million in reparations to people who's homes have been damaged, there must be quite a bit of behind the scenes intrigue going on fr the purpose of undermining Hizbullah's armed element.

But we'll see.. Lebanese politics are very complex. They suffer under many of the conditions that we're seeing in Iraq, and the two governments share the same"confessionalist" structure.
