The truth is virtually no country that was carved out of the former Ottoman Empire was created by a plebesite of the inhabitants.
Although all ME countries were carved out the Ottaman, the people were not displaced, they stayed were they lived and a line was drown around them. These countries existed as provinces to the empire the borders changed. In the case of Israel, people were being imported from Europe to settle the land, the Arabs were being displaced.
