re: Both wars severely weakened the USA and should have been stopped very early on, but were dragged out because a chickenhawk Republican president didn't want to admit he was so wrong. Correct except Vietnam was also escalated because a chickenhawk Democrat president didn't want to lose a war. Frankly it took a Republican to summon the courage to cut our losses (or cut and run for the macho couch potatoes). President Nixon did a lot of things very wrong and a lot of things very right... Vietnam he did both ways.
