Greetings Steve, Good Post brother. I believe that a large majority of christians have forgotten how terribly defiled our " flesh " is and that even Almighty God could not correct this, therefore a death sentence was carried out upon it for mankind by our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the heart of the Gospel. As believers we can readily see the works of the flesh ( Gal. 5:16-20 ), we all concur that this is truly evil. It is the other side of the same " flesh " that most christians have not recognized which causes great problems. This so called " good" side of the flesh masquerades under many different actions. Some examples are; going to church, Bible studies, all work or action which outwardly appear " good " but are born of the flesh are an abomination to God. Although the " good " works of the flesh are in themselves quite commendable , It is where does these actions come from. Either from the " flesh" with its two faces or from the Eternal Life which is a gift from God. Thank you Father that it pleased you to reveal your Son in Us. Have a blessed day Steve. Robert
