It does certainly speak to their power. Seemingly the paragraph you found attributes a negative to them that must be overcome by the consciousness.

When you have time see if there is anything about archetypes that speak to gender roles---although for us to grasp the concepts he talks about may take more study than we have time for (speaking for myself)

What I did was very speculative and I am not sure that I correctly used Jung's concepts.
