You certainly have interesting grand parents and relatives.
I would love to read a history of your family.. Intriguing.

My own mother was orphaned at five years old. Her father ( a good Irishman) put all four children in a Catholic Home... but different ones so they lost touch with one another.

He joined the military and the children were on their own from 8th grade on when the Nuns dismissed them as they could work .. no child labor laws at that time.

All of them were innovative and productive in their lives even without formal education. Three were women..

What I can contribute here is that none of them aspired to be better educated as the money was not there. Fortunately all married well..

My mother was always for the under dog and I expect that was because of her own experiences. So to add my two cents, I think a lot of what women achieved or did not was not only economic but because it was not thought of.. encouraged or part of their milieu...rearing or whatever. Hard workers all...

All of you here who have posted on this topic have most interesting posts.. Euterpe you go to a lot of research to be accurate. Admire that.
