I recall seeing an electric car on display at a local mall roughly 20-25 years ago. It was a very stylish two seater, looking much like European sports cars. Acceleration was something like 0 to 60 in 8 seconds. Top speed was around 100 MPH. And it was good for something like 4-6 hours of driving on a full charge. As I recall, the price tag was around $30K at the time.

The one thing I've never been able to figure out with electric cars is why no one has tried to incorporate solar panels into the body of the car. I wouldn't think it'd be all that hard to embed solar batteries in a clear resin on the hood, top and trunk, and it seems to me it could be done artistically enough to where it could be given a sort of futuristic look that would not be objectionable.
