So you don't believe that if the US was to make efforts to raise the standard of living in Mexico and central American countries instead of poking it's nose into other places, that it would do the US more good? The cure for Afghanistan and it's poppies is to provide another better way for the Afghani farmers to earn a living, and to wrest control over them from the thugs who control that end of the drug trade. Just as the way to help Columbians is to replace the Coca trade. It isn't done that way presently. The other way is to make drugs legal and government controlled, and bring the price down so that dealers can't afford to compete.
