There is a boiling water technique where you dip a cheesecloth tied with coffee in it, in boiling distilled water, for exactly sixty seconds, to the second. It is hard to do, as holding your hand over the boiling water is not a good idea unless you wear an water proof oven mitt on. Filter thru paper coffee is good as long as the filter passages are cleaned thoroughly with baking soda and boiling water, so there is no crud or scale build up.
