will you PLEASE stop putting forth these republican talking points and expect this thread to buy it?

SS is a PAYROLL TAX. Meaning it applies to workers only and it is close to 15%. The fact that employers get shafted with half and the worker gets shafted with the other half is meaningless. It is a LARGE TAX levied on the worker, only.

Nobody paying into this disaster who is under 40 is going to see anything out of it, at this point. Therefore it is not a "benefit" it is a tax. It needs to be rolled into the general fund and managed as a part of federal income taxes. Then, when the government said things that you are parotting like "low wage workers pay NO taxes" then it would be true, for the most part. But that is not the case now.

you don't pay 15% SS you pay 7.5% god you are stupid.

Having said all this, putting the existing SS mess into the STOCK MARKET, which is what GW wanted to do and was thwarted (as all of his programs are, hes as lame as Jimmy Carter) is an even worse idea, because the stock market returns are LOWER than money market at this point and certainly lower than other alternatives like investing in foreign currency or anything that shorts the dollar.

Investing in a SECULAR BEAR MARKET that Bush created with the public trust is a typical Bush idea. Totally brain dead.
