Korea and Vietnam have NOTHING to do with the quagmire of Iraq and comparisons are ludicrous.

Funny, it sounds as if YOU ARE THE ONE who is showing the "abysmal ignorance of the history, politics, cultural realities".

Every conflict has similiarities, as well as differences to other current, or previous disputes. And there are ALWAYS opportunities to engage in comparison and contrast analysis with regard to any human conflict. That's the whole nature of military and/or political science.

So for you to claim that there is nothing we can learn, apply, from Vietnam/Korea to the current struggle means that your asserting people are unique and do not share common human emotions/behaviors.

And that's just plain stupid.. Hopefully, your liberal candidates are a bit more sophisticated about their thinking process than you are.
