Are you fairly sure about that? My contact at Ibis indicated that the announcement by IBM was only peripherially related to SOI in that it was a lower voltage/lower power technology. He indicated that there was no indication that IBM was using SOI substrates.
Actually, IBM has not, to the best of my knowledge, ever said that they were the ones who bought the Ibis implanter. It was widely understood in the SOI comminity, however, that they were. The Ibis announcement only said that the machine was purchased by a "major semiconductor company" or words to that effect.
