Kissinger once said that he found it odd that he could give the Soviets a detailed inventory of US Strategic Forces, but couldn't tell the American people what they were.

I never heard that, but I could believe it was true. Leaders the world over often must present a different spin to their political base.

I hope Olmert can accept that Lebanon is not enthusiastic about Israel right now, but he should continue to reach out behind the scenes, and see what progress can be made. I'd love to be throughly discredited on my views of the last little war, if it could actually result in much improved relations between Israel and Lebanon.
