NO, I would not have called for an end to WWII -- but I would have asked those who targeted tens of thousands of civilians for mass murder to be put on trial. The killing of Jews resulted in trials for at least some of those less-than-human perpetrators of Nazi mass murder. No doubt these trials were small consolation to the families whose loved ones were slaughtered -- but at least it was a sign that the world cared about justice for those who had been murdered. The woman and children we targeted and slaughtered with fire bombing never had even this small shred of dignity shown to them.
