Sorry Ian..I read my post again and it was kinda' harsh..however-g-, there's a difference btween researching fat metabolism for diabetics and phenols to prevent alzheimers!..we don't even know how to treat Alzheimer's, how are we going to be confident in a preventative..

Not all health professionals know what's going on in nutrition [Physicians are notoriously uninformed, and we nurses don't do much better..many of the nutrition studies you post, I've been reading about in the alternative health literature for years..I appreciate your posting to validate[I happen to have a real interest in it, otherwise, my work would not have given me much of a heads up]

Unfortunately Ian, knowledge level does not correlate with behaviour adoption..smoking, teen-age pregnancy, Hiv, drug addiction, are the other blaring ones(at least in this country)

I agree with you that indie analysis is important..don't you think that the growers can still supply without biasing the results?..just like the biotechs supply drug to NCI investigators..oops, slippery slope there..

I believe the financially poor suffer more from the marketing of junk for the last few decades as 'fine' than they do knowledge of healthy lifestyle choices..that's been my experience..cultural differences notwithstanding

Lastly, imo ..among the factors that none of these scientific studies capture is self-esteem..with a healthy dose of it, one naturally takes good care of herself...which spurs an idea..measure this stuff(health habits) and self-worth..now, that's a study I'd give my blessing for the NIH to take on..perhaps someone already is..

What's depressing is that conventional veggies/friut are not enuff[if not bad for you with all those pesticides] and organic is financially out of reach for many..
