For some reason, they always come up with an idea that I don't like.
Hey.. life's a B*tch, ain't it though??
They pass all kinds of laws that I don't agree with too..
But democracy is not about a person always getting their way, but about having an opportunity to have a voice in public policy. And then that policy can be tested via the judiciary to determine its constitutionality.
Why is France in the Big Five when India is equivalent to Fiji?
Good question. Why is the EU represented by two different nations on the UNSC. Of course, we could also ask why non-democratic China is on there as well..
If Iraq hadn't been presented as such a push-over, with boastful "Mission Accomplished", and then the big climb down, it wouldn't have been seen as such a big failure. It isn't such a huge failure as such conflicts go. Only 3,000 dead troops after 5 years of 911 retaliation. Afghanistan well into their next phase of history. The rest of the world steady as she goes. Libya out of the nukes industray. Khan not selling nukes around the place.
Well, Iraq was, generally speaking, an easier scenario than originally expected, especially with regard to actually taking Baghdad itself.
Of course, winning the peace has been slightly more difficult.. ;0)
