Since the government already provides health insurance for a big chunk of the population... armed forces personnel, government employees at the state, federal and local level and medicare subscribers... it's not that big a leap to cover everyone. The conclusion doesn't follow from the premise. Its still a big leap to go from federal employees (including employees in the armed forces) receiving federal funded insurance, to everyone receiving federally funded insurance.
