GM,F make cars for a 24 mpg requirement. Can't sell those any place in the world; not efficient enuf. What's made in Detroit won't pass Canadian standards. GM obviously sells cars in Canada. Why don't we get the same? 24 pg Chevys can't be sold in 32 mpg Aussieland. The largest market in the world? China, requires 35 mpg; won't be too many Suburbans headed from Detroit to China. And what's our solution? Tax credits for a 10 mpg Hummer. We are so wise.

Not even a net food exporter any more. But we do sell a lot of arms and movies.
