Silver Wheaton Increases Interest in Bear Creek Mining Corporation to 19%

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Sep 06, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) --
Silver Wheaton Corp. (TSX: SLW)(NYSE: SLW) ("Silver Wheaton") has acquired 2,314,600 additional shares in Bear Creek Mining Corp. ("Bear Creek"), representing approximately 6% of the outstanding shares of Bear Creek, on the TSX Venture Exchange at a cost of CDN$20.6 million. As a result of this transaction, Silver Wheaton owns 7,676,505 common shares of Bear Creek and warrants exercisable to acquire an additional 270,000 common shares, representing approximately 19.1% of the outstanding shares of Bear Creek on an undiluted basis, and 16.8% on a fully diluted basis.
