I'm not certain I yet see how it contributed, strongly, to the failure of journalists to police "facticity." Yes, I see your issue now. I was referring more to the unchallenged partisan propaganda that stemmed from the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine. I think the present unwillingness of the media to call pols on their truthiness owes more to the fairly recent consolidation of media ownership. Seeing as how the Traditional Media are almost all owned by big corporations, they are reluctant to upset any corporate interests. Can you imagine a GE-owned broadcast having an anti-war slant? Disney/ABC seems determined to serve the status quo with the upcoming 911 "documentary", from what I am seeing.
