Silver Wheaton Increases Interest in Bear Creek Mining Corporation to 19%

All Market Wire NewsSilver Wheaton Corp. (TSX: SLW)(NYSE: SLW) ("Silver Wheaton") has acquired 2,314,600 additional shares in Bear Creek Mining Corp. ("Bear Creek"), representing approximately 6% of the outstanding shares of Bear Creek, on the TSX Venture Exchange at a cost of CDN$20.6 million. As a result of this transaction, Silver Wheaton owns 7,676,505 common shares of Bear Creek and warrants exercisable to acquire an additional 270,000 common shares, representing approximately 19.1% of the outstanding shares of Bear Creek on an undiluted basis, and 16.8% on a fully diluted basis.

Silver Wheaton has acquired the Bear Creek shares for investment purposes and may acquire or dispose of its beneficial ownership, control or direction over the securities through market transactions, private placements, treasury issuances or otherwise as circumstances or market conditions warrant or arise.

Silver Wheaton is the only public mining company with 100% of its revenue from silver production. The Company expects to have annual silver sales of approximately 15 million ounces in 2006, increasing to 20 million ounces by 2009 and thereafter. Silver Wheaton is unhedged and well positioned for further growth.
