This will solve israel's problem, but what about the problem with islam?
That's another bucket of worms.
My proposal for "solving the problems of Islam", as you put it, is generally as follows: You've got to democratize the Arab nations, forcibly if necessary, and then let the democratic process modernize the religion.
If you let Muslim women vote, they are going to vote that they should be able to drive cars, dress as they like, and they are going to change the laws that say things like four witnesses are necessary to "prove" a rape charge. I'm pretty sure the Iranian law says nobody can dance in public - put that to a vote and believe me, that law will go away in a reasonable time period.
Not exactly sure on the details of the plan (how you guarantee that the people in power don't retain final veto on who can run, as they do in Iran, thus allowing the unelected ruling Mullahs to prevent reformers from getting elected and implementing the people's will), but that's the basic idea.
Basically, you've got to the the Muslim clergy worldwide to accept the separation of church and state. That's something that is either non-existent or extemely cloudy in loads of these "Muslim" countries. Muslim clergy that will not accept this concept need to be marginalized.
And its not that hard to make the moral case for it - why should non-Muslim nations which allow Muslims to freely practice their faith within the non-Muslim country's borders respect a Muslim country government which denies that same right to non-Muslims within its borders? |
