These and other publications owe Karl Rove an apology. And all of journalism needs to relearn the lesson: Can the conspiracy theories and stick to the facts.</I.

The NYT has already issued an opinion piece trying to defend their claims about Rove, Cheney et al and Valerie Plame since the public revelation about Armitage being the leaker. Broder's suggestion of an apology is nice but won't happen.

The media is too busy trying to raise their membership numbers, their ratings to let honesty be an actual measure of what they print or say. Rather/Mapes is a recent example of sticking to a lie.

There is something about politics which keeps people from being truthful. Damned if I know what it is.
