You wouldn't happen to have any link detailing what either or both of them consider income?

No. I'd really like to see margins of error on such data, especially if they are obtained by polling. I'd trust data pulled of tax returns more than data based on interviews. However, even tax data, especially for the self employed, can be hard to interpret. I sink a significant chunk of my income into business ventures, where it is difficult to calculate the current worth (or future worth) of the investment, yet the investments significantly reduce my current income. The biggest economic trend of the last half decade has been slower effective worker wage growth, since higher paying jobs have not seen the growth of the lower paying service sector. That and the effect of low interests rates and housing.
