If by retaliation you mean "getting even" by murdering civilians, I have never suggested that murdering civilians is anything other than a war crime. Murderers deserve to be called murderers and treated as the criminals they are. The American soldiers who are going on trial and could face the death penalty -- they are being tried for murder. When you put on a uniform, it is not a license to commit murder, whether it be with nuclear weapons or a pistol.

A man who commits murder while in uniform is a total disgrace to the uniform and to his country. Anybody who murders or tortures while in the service of America is a disgrace to America. This person is a nothing more than a criminal -- a low life criminal.
