C2, there is a big difference between brain surgery and putting a bandage on a scratched leg. One doesn't have to hire a high-priced surgeon to put a bandage on and say "tsk tsk, it'll be okay".

It doesn't always take a $500 an hour person to do some simple job. The Broadcom case looked so simple that a $40,000 per year 16 year old apprentice could take it on to learn the ropes, perhaps with some oversight by a senior person to ensure things were kept on the right track.

Sometimes, the cheap person does a better job than the high-priced one who has such an over-inflated sense of their own importance that their job is beneath them.

Just because a 50c nut holds together a $10bn construction, doesn't mean the nut will perform better by being more expensive, or by getting a percentage of the profits.

I have acted as a lawyer a few times and done an admirable job - better than the pros in some instances. My rates are very reasonable. Which is not to say I'd like to be the nut on the end of the $10bn construction - I'd take a rain check on that. Minor matters are fun. Big stuff I'd go with the apprentice.
